Fixed Electrical Wiring Inspection & Testing
Business Challenge
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAW Regulations) came into force on 1 April 1990. The regulation requires all electrical systems to be installed and maintained to a safe standard and to ensure that all precautions are taken against the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in work activities.
The Regulations are made under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSW Act) in Great Britain or the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978). Employers are responsible for ensuring the safety and health of their employees, along with members of the public on site and to ensure they are not at risk from their work
activities. This includes electrical safety.
Many deaths and injuries arise from:
- Control of earthworks
- Use of poorly maintained electrical equipment
- Mains electricity supplies
- Fires started by poor electrical installations and faulty electrical appliances cause many additional deaths and injuries.
