How to choose the right Agent
It is best to approach at least three Managing Agents. Throughout the UK there are varying types of Agent, some smaller offering a more personal service, others larger with a more distant approach to Property Management.
If you first consider which type of agent you are looking for, how much involvement your wish to have, then call several to find out whether they manage any blocks similar to your own.
You can find a list of agents at:
www.flat-living.co.uk/services/managing-agents.htm or consult the list of agents available from ARMA – www.arma.org.uk.
For more information on how to Appoint a Managing Agent review the attached PDF produced by ARMA, LEASE and ARHM - Appointing a Managing Agent.
N.B. Before appointing your agent always ask for a copy of their contract and request three references from blocks similar to your own so you can speak with the directors of the block to get “hands on” experience of each agent.
