Property Manager fined for Inadequate Fire Standards
Following the first prison sentence handed out for breaches in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, according to the Fire Industry Association (FIA) they have found that fire services across the country have been successful in more court actions:
"A property manager in Hillingdon was ordered to pay £6,500 in fines and a similar amount in costs when he was prosecuted, following a fire at a house converted into flats where no smoke alarms or extinguishers were present and tenants had to escape by smashing a first floor window. Although he pleaded not guilty as he did not own the property, Uxbridge Magistrates decided he was responsible."
